Product Description
Trout Flies for the 21st Century 200 Essential Patterns that Catch Fish Anywhere, Anytime Dick Talleur Following in the footsteps of the highly touted Stewart & Allen fly-pattern series, and endorsed by Fly Tyer magazine, this extensive trout-fly pattern collection presents 200 recipes for everything trout love: wet flies, dry flies, emergers, nymphs, terrestrials, attractors, and streamers. Master tyer Dick Talleur has collected pattern recipes from across the country, many from professional fishing guides, and thrown in a ton of classic patterns as he ties them. With beautiful full-color photographs of each completed fly and, in some cases, technical photos of crucial tying steps, this book delivers a lifetime’s worth of must-do patterns for the trout chaser.

| Customer Reviews: United Fly Tyers' Book of the Year Award for 2008 January 22, 2009 DK (Woburn, MA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Dick Talleur's Trout Flies for the 21st Century is the 2008 winner of the United Fly Tyers' Book of the Year Award. Dick's writing style translates his knowledge and skill as a master fly tyer into a book that is well written, interesting to read and, most importantly, easy to understand. The larger than actual size high quality photographs of the flies represented in this book provides the novice or expert with the detail necessary to create their own versions of these trout catching patterns.
Great photos, useable patterns January 21, 2010 Zeke Bentley (Wayland, MA) This is not a beginners book, it's a pattern book for those who already know most of the basic fly tying moves. Dick does provide some instruction when a difficult manipulation is required but, by and large, you're on your own. That said the photos are some of the best I have ever seen and the patterns, more than ample. The details within patterns are good although I wish authors wouldn't use specific manufacturer hook numbers....i.e. don't tell me it's a Tiemco 2488 but rather that it's a "2X short, curved shank, 3X wide gape, straight eye...." I find myself constantly needing to look up hook comparison tables. Finally, these are very useable patterns that you'll find in most fly shops. On the whole, this book is a good investment.
Classic Talleur quality. June 30, 2008 R. C. Cunningham (Cody, WY USA) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
Excellent writing, high quality photographs, and details are the hallmarks of Dick Talleur's work. Coupled with his years of fly tying experience makes this an excellent addition to his previous presentations.
